WHO WE ARE

The earliest Squires/Esquires known to date at an Historically Black College or University were on the campus of what is now
Winston-Salem State University in 1948. Like many fraternal organizations of our kind, we were founded
during trying and tragic times for people of color in America and elsewhere...more

In the midst of these challenges, we forged ahead to become a group of men who value 
Service to humanity; Loyalty to the aims of the fraternity in Unity with our fellow brothers; Ambition to become the best
version of ourselves; and treating everyone with Dignity and Respect in keeping with our timeless motto 
"Be Ye Always A Gentleman".
               
With those values embedded in our DNA, we became better men living lives committed to our enduring
purpose of enhancing the progress and prestige of the urban community and its universities - and so can you!
